Education Officer
As a member of BIAZA, the zoo realises the importance of education, especially for our younger visitors, in whose hands it will be to put right some of the problems past generations have created for the planet. To this end, the zoo has appointed a full time education officer who is responsible for organising and implementing the zoos education policy and educational activities both in and outside the zoo. As well as being a qualified vetinerary nurse, zoo keeper and teacher, he also signs (BSL), and is only too happy to be contacted to discuss any educational requirements or queries you, or your group, may have. Please contact Stephen Eddy at, educatexmoorzoo@btconnect.com.
Teachers Information
Exmoor zoo is a fun and educational zoo for children of all ages and abilities, 3—103! The zoo's size means that it is easily explored and the lush planting ensures a surprise around every corner! Educational talks and feeding times run throughout the day, and focus on a variety of topics and subjects linked to the hundreds of birds, animals and plants from all over the world to which the zoo is home. At your request, these can easily be adapted to most areas of the national curriculum or your group’s specific area of interest. The zoo works with many schools, community colleges and outside organisations, not just at the zoo, but also out and about. If you would like to assist with one of our conservation campaigns or special event days please contact us. All teachers and group supervisors are welcomed and advised to visit the zoo prior to their visit. Education staff will assist you with completing risk assessments, educational materials and anything else to help ensure that your visit runs smoothly. Please contact the Education department, educatexmoorzoo@btconnect.com.
