Exmoor zoo is a fun and educational zoo for children of all ages and abilities 3 to 103! The zoo's size means that it is easily explored and the lush planting ensures a surprise around every corner! Educational talks and feeding times run throughout the day and focus on a variety of topics and subjects linked to the hundreds of birds, animals and plants from all over the world to which the zoo is home.

With over one hundred and seventy species in 12 acres of lushly planted countryside the zoo is a popular venue for a wide range of visiting educational groups. Zoo education staff can offer bespoke talks and workshops to a wide range of ages and abilities on a variety of themes and subjects. Talks and workshops usualy include the chance to meet live animals, customs seizures etc. These can be adapted to meet learning objectives across the national curriculum and all the key stages or to meet your own particular needs. Early Years and Foundation Stage Objectives in Communication, language and literacy, knowledge and understanding of the World, PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional Development) and creative development can be met within the current activities at the zoo. Key Stage one and two pupils can use our programmes to achieve targets across much of the curriculum with opportunities to develop particularly in use of clanguage for speaking and listening, encouraging writing, PSHE, aspects of citizenship (KS2 and 3) and obviously geography and science. Our activities have been adapted to meet the needs of KS3 and 4 pupils who have been looking at environmental studies, maths, biology geography and education for sustainability. We welcome opportunities to develop projects for Further and Higher education students, special needs groups and other study groups interested in what our unique zoo can offer. Please contact our education staff for a discussion if you would like to know more about the exciting educational opportunities we offer here.

Hello Exmoor Zoo.
We came to your lovely zoo yesterday and we would like to say thankyou for a super day! It was really fun, we loved all the animals but especially the Exmoor beast, the meerkats, cranes, penguins, lemurs, cheetahs, monkeys, wallabies and skunks. We learned a lot of new facts. We liked to see the monkeys doing their tricks and the cheetahs being fed! The story boards with Widget symbols were every helpful - we use those at school! Please could you send us some of them.
Thankyou so much we thoroughly enjoyed our day with you! Hopefully we might come again with our Mums and Dads!

Thanks to Steve for the fabulous afternoon yesterday. He engaged the children and staff with his excellant presentation. We learnt and laughed lots, and meeting 'Comedy' the owl and his friends was great.
