This will give you a chance to find out much, much more about them and you will help provide one of their feeds for the day! For the keen photographers amongst you this experience will certainly give a very close for images!
Our dingo’s get very excited when they see you so you will have to be prepared for the odd muddy paw print on your clothes.
The experience tends to be in the afternoon, starting at 14:00 on certain days of the week. We will introduce you to them, help you prepare a snack and get you acquainted on a personal one to one basis.
Lemur experience (8 years +)
£80.00 or £140.00 for 2

If you have ever wanted to go to Madagascar and see the lemurs but not been able to afford to or just been fascinated by King Julian on Walt Disney’s Madagascar films then this experience will give you a chance to get really close and learn a little more about them.
The experience generally begins at 11:00 on certain days of the week. We will introduce you to the different species of lemur we have here at the zoo, help you prepare a mid-day snack for our group of ring tailed lemurs and get you acquainted on a personal one to one basis.
Meerkat experience (8 years +)
£80.00 or £140.00 for 2
Meerkats are adorable! Meerkat Manor, Walt Disney’s the Lion King and Compare the Meerkat.com has created a big interest in this lively little mongoose. What are they really like? Why not come and find out.
This one is just a little bit special.
An afternoon experience, beginning at 15:15, can be booked in advance. You will get a chance to prepare food, feed our colony and provide environmental enrichment; learn about our meerkats and the species.
Then, to finish, meet and greet one of the zoo’s hand-reared meerkats, “Seemples or Alexdranda” on your own, on a one to one basis along with your accompanying keeper.
Red panda experience (8 years +)

We can make this experience around your choice of animals – it is a great way to learn about how to look after them!
For the keen photographers amongst you this experience will certainly give a very close for images!
The experience is usually in the afternoon starting at 14:00 on certain days of the week.
We will introduce you to our reptile keepers and they will take you behind the scenes and introduce you to their animals, giving you a chance to ask all about them.
Shoebill experience (16 years +)
£80.00 for 1 person only
This is a photography experience only with “Abou” our shoebill and will not include any physical contact.
The experience will include an introduction, health & safety directions, your own keeper and 30 – 45 minutes in our shoebill’s enclosure. The experience is so you can be closer to Abou without the restrictions of glass or wire. We do not offer any photography advice.
A seat has been provided in the enclosure for use and you will be required to use our sanitation foot dips on entering (so please wear appropriate footwear and accept that any camera tripod feet will also be dipped in the disinfectant).
“Abou” hunts in a very similar way to our heron, so she will spend long periods of time absolutely stationary. She eats 2 or 3 freshwater fish a day and cannot be trained to eat on command, nor will she necessarily be in the right place for your images. However, she is really special and an iconic avian species. Worth the chance? Many visitors travel across the world to see her!
As this is a photography experience, should the weather make it too difficult to complete, we will either rebook on the day or refund less the cost of your entry.
This unique experience can only accommodate one participant aged 16+ and only one experience will be run daily at 2.00pm.
We will provide a zoo certificate for the experience and whenever possible an “Abou” souvenir as a reminder of the time you spent with her. Of course, you will also have your images.
Tapir & capybara experience (8 years +)
£80.00 or £140.00 for 2
This is one of our most popular zoo animal experiences and enables a close encounter with both our capybara and tapir.
Denzil & Isabelle our gentle giants (our tapirs are the heaviest animals in the zoo) just love the attention that you can give them on this experience. Make sure you get some practice in with a horse curry comb before you visit! If not, we will soon show you how.
Our capybaras may be the worlds largest rodent and the size of sheep but compared to our tapirs they are a little more restrained. They will give you a chance to get close and feed them and you will get a much better understanding of their “super powers”.
A lovely opportunity to meet two enigmatic and very special animal species.
